A Collection of Ingredients

2001

(Microcosm)

Considering a tiny heap of sand as the Mount Everest.
Imagining the Atlantic Ocean to be your personal bathtub
(or actually vice versa).
Playing with scale. Discovering all kinds of worlds
in the carpet. These small universes are simplified samples
of the world they belong to.
Sometimes one needs to make things small to escape
From this huge continuing world.

A match becomes a beam.
A pea, a globe.

(Photography)

Place and time meet when another picture is taken.

Being on that particular spot,
On that very special moment
On which A. The light was so rosefingery,
B. this bird was flying right over the mountain
(which was not noticed until the photo was printed).

Never start thinking of all these loads of pictures, which
Also could have been taken on that very same moment...
Nor of all these paralysing quantities of microcosms that
are waiting to be photographed, lying on the streets of
the entire world.

Photography is an excellent teacher in making choices.

(Development)

Moving heaven and earth.
Diving into the ground and piercing a mountain.
Piercing the sky and diving into the water.

A tunnel and a bridge are in their persistence
Familiar to each other.
Both really wanting to cover their distance,
No matter which matter tries to obstruct them.

Surmounting mountains and waters. Going on.

(Spring)

Time is like a line as well as like a circle.
Seasons are returning every year.
Probably time is like a spring (as we know from watches).
Each new summer is stored above the other summers.
Therefore the memories of three springs ago are easily dug up in April.
